Since 1 January 2026, importers above the 50-tonne annual threshold need authorised CBAM declarant status, and the first annual declaration, for 2026 imports, is due by 30 September 2027. To declare, your customer needs embedded-emissions data from your installation, or must fall back on the default values the Commission publishes by CN code and country of origin. ### Which goods does CBAM cover? Cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen. In December 2025 the Commission proposed extending CBAM to 180 downstream products with high steel or aluminium content. That extension is not yet law, and we track it every month. ### What do packaging suppliers need for PPWR? PPWR applies generally from 12 August 2026. Before packaging is placed on the EU market, the manufacturer carries out the Annex VII conformity assessment, draws up technical documentation and issues an EU declaration of conformity. The sum of lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium must not exceed 100 mg/kg, and the documents are kept for 5 years for single-use packaging and 10 years for reusable packaging. ### Who is Strato Advisory?
